EEC was retained by an aerospace manufacturer to assist in environmental regulatory compliance efforts including air, wastewater, and hazardous waste at their Southern California facility. The aging wastewater treatment system (WWTS) had reached the end of its useful life. Our client needed a design-build contractor to install a new wastewater treatment facility to comply with the facility’s Industrial Waste Discharge permit requirements set by the sanitary sewer agency
EEC was chosen based on our years of experience with wastewater treatment system design and installation and based on EEC’s experience with regulatory compliance issues. We were able to provide the expert operators necessary to continue operation of the treatment system and perform necessary maintenance tasks.
EEC provided quick-turn design services and flexible construction services in order to minimize downtime of the treatment system while simultaneously maintaining facility operations during the construction of the new system. Design and construction services included: secondary containment upgrades, structural pad upgrades, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), system automation, tank installation and anchorage, and considerations for hazardous materials.
Permitting services included: structural, MEP, fire protection, backflow protection, construction recycling, CUPA tank assessment, and Industrial Waste Discharge (IWD) permitting.
During and upon completion of the wastewater treatment system upgrades, EEC provided daily/weekly operation and maintenance services of the system in addition to operator training. EEC was retained to continue operational and maintenance services for approximately 18 months after completion of the system upgrades.
All work was completed by appropriately certified personnel including: Professional Engineers, Confined Space Entry, HAZWOPER 40-Hour, HAZ A Contractor. All required permits were obtained for the work including: Building, Electrical, Structural, Plumbing Permits, C&D Permit, Health Department Approval, Backflow Prevention Approval, SCAQMD Demolition Notification.
