EEC Environmental (EEC) was selected to further evaluate the magnitude and extent of impacts to soil, soil vapor, and groundwater beneath the former manufacturing facility and college property. The approximately 3-acre former wire and cable facility site was undergoing extensive redevelopment. Prior to construction activities, the site was occupied by multiple industrial buildings associated with the former wire and cable facility site operations. The approximately 3-acre film school property adjacent to the east of the former wire and cable facility site contains the 76,000 square foot, three-story film school building and a paved parking lot on two land parcels.
Consistent with the scope of work requested in the Airport RFP, the implemented work scope was developed by the client. Field activities consisting of drilling 24 soil borings; installing soil vapor probes and groundwater monitoring wells; and collecting soil, soil vapor, and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis. Of the 24 soil borings, EEC completed 8 as single-completion groundwater monitoring wells, 12 as triple-nested soil-vapor probes, 3 as dual-nested soil vapor probes, and 1 as a single soil-vapor probe. Triple-nested soil-vapor probes were also added to 2 of the groundwater monitoring wells installed at the request of the client. Following installation activities, multiple rounds of groundwater and soil-vapor sampling were conducted.
