In 2017, EEC Environmental (EEC) supported four aluminum forging facilities to complete their Exceedance Response Action Level 2 evaluations and compliance reporting in compliance with the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Water Quality Order No. 2014‐0057‐DWQ, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Industrial General Permit No. CAS000001 (IGP). EEC started by performing comprehensive evaluations of each facilities stormwater program followed by a detailed pollutant source assessment targeting each exceeding parameter. Following these evaluations, it was determined that an overhaul of each facilities stormwater program was necessary.
It was also determined that both structural and non-structural Best Management Practices (BMP) would be needed for obtaining compliance. EEC then designed facility specific BMPs to address each exceeding parameter. To date, on behalf of these facilities, EEC has completed a Level 1 and several Level 2 Action Plans, prepared four sites specific pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), held on-site facility training sessions, and is currently the facilities acting Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP).
