EEC Environmental (EEC) was retained by a large manufacturer of inorganic chemicals to design a stormwater management system to treat 20 percent of the impervious surface at their plant in the mid-Atlantic. This treatment requirement came from Chesapeake Bay Restoration Requirements set forth in the General Permit for Discharges from Stormwater Associated with Industrial Activities issued by the Maryland Department of the Environment.
EEC professionals carefully characterized the site, identifying stormwater sources, potential flow rates, and flow patterns. We formulated several stormwater treatment alternatives, with emphasis on low cost. The client opted for a bioswale to treat water from designated paved areas. EEC prepared design drawings as well as construction and maintenance/operating cost estimates.
